Version 0.3.0

Breaks compatibility
  • The Polis window opens on a new key — P went back to vanilla social interactions.
  • What the registry says to you personally now reaches you in Discord, even when you are not in the game.
  • Chat, the player list and the nameplates now say who is who.
  • The market fee is counted per order rather than per settlement: splitting a purchase no longer pays.
  • Selling ground settles its arrears out of the price first.
  • The watch records fire and fluid from what actually happened in the world, not from where a click landed.

The client has to be updatedThis release changed the pack, and a client older than it is turned away at the door. Update the pack in the launcher before you next join.

The full list of changes

Money and the market

  • The fee is counted per order over its lifetime rather than per settlement: splitting one purchase into ten small ones burns exactly as much as making it once.
  • Nothing is debited before the far end has said it can receive it — a full maker is skipped, a cancel is refused, and a fine with nowhere to go becomes minutes.
  • The mint quotes in slices across each edge of the standard: "mint all" no longer pays for the last bar at the first bar's rate.
  • Metals are matched by item tag, so any pack's ingots mint.
  • An order that would cross your own resting order is refused: it moved nothing and still wrote a sale, which is what every price here is read off.
  • A dead player's goods wait in their store rather than ceasing to exist.

Land and the watch

  • Selling ground settles its arrears out of the price first, and is refused if the price does not cover them.
  • A derelict chunk cannot be listed, a pledged one cannot be captured, and one that owes cannot be released.
  • The day-book is read back from disk, so the journal survives a restart.
  • Your own ender chest is no longer counted as a store.
  • Fire and fluid are recorded from what the world actually shows a tick later, at the block that was actually reached — a flint on a chest or a bucket on stone is no longer an event.
  • Spectators are never charged; a named guest's walk is still written down.

The court, contracts and bodies

  • One case per wronged holder rather than one for all of them.
  • A vote cannot be changed once it is cast.
  • A body can only be fined: it is never banned and never put to an exile vote, because there is no person behind it to remove.
  • The exile vote stays open for seven days after the conviction, and the tally is sealed until it closes.
  • A withdrawn complaint cannot be refiled for a day; a lapsed case hands its evidence back.
  • An invited party to a contract can decline, and a stake given back has a state of its own.

The window

  • The Polis window opens on a new key: P went back to vanilla social interactions, and every sentence naming a key reads your own binding.
  • The Guide scrolls, and takes every figure from the code that enforces it.
  • Everything fits at 320x240: the catalogue, the stat tiles, the court's columns, the vote buttons and the dialogs.
  • The map's wash follows the charter, and roads wear one colour on the map, the strip and the wall alike.
  • The border wall stands on the ground under a roof as well.
  • A flight past a border no longer keeps its warning for ever.

Discord

  • What the registry says to you personally reaches you in Discord, even when you are not in the game.
  • An announcement about one person wears that person's face.
  • An account can be linked before there is anything to pay for.
  • There is an /unlink command.

The wire

  • The handshake changed: an older client is refused at the door and told so, rather than let in to read rows one field out.
  • The land register arrives in pages, and the map draws nothing until it has the whole of it.
