Minecraft 1.21.1 · NeoForge · the Polis mod

Everdawncontrolled anarchy in Minecraft

Controlled anarchy: nothing is forbidden, everything is written down. Order here is not handed down from above — the players sign it themselves, and the mod keeps every signature for good.

A player with a sword stands on a cliff under a tree, looking over a valley with a river, a town and a castle at dawn
The idea

The code is a notary and an archive. Never a judge.

Anarchy is not chaos. It is the absence of a ruler. Nobody governs here: there is no admin to settle an argument in chat, and no plugin that forbids anything. Nothing will stop you lying, stealing or killing.

Order arrives another way — it gets signed. The mod records an obligation together with its signatures, watches the terms a machine can verify, and announces the outcome to the whole server. Breaking a contract is always possible. It is just never quiet, and never free.

Six systems, written from scratch

Each one works mechanically — not as a promise in Discord, but as a rule of the world.

Contracts

A draft binds nobody until every party has signed. Delivery, payment and non-aggression are watched by the code. So is collateral: breach the contract and the plot passes to the creditor. A promise is judged only by people.

Every contract's journal is kept for good
Money

A coin you cannot melt back

Three coins — iron, gold, netherite. Metal is struck into coin at the bank and lands on your account, but a coin cannot be melted back, and no recipe exchanges one denomination for another. Otherwise four iron bars would turn into gold. Money therefore enters the world through the mine alone, never through a village trader.

Why here

Freedom here is not a slogan — it is what we deliberately refused to block

The mod was written under one rule: forbid nothing. Every line below is a decision, not an unfinished feature. Forbidding is the cheapest way to make a world quiet and the fastest way to make it empty: where a plugin will not let you through, there is nothing left to negotiate.

An ordinary serverA claim plugin simply stops strangers entering your land
EverdawnA closed border warns you and marks the line — you can walk through it. But every block, every opened chest and every minute lands in the trespass journal
An ordinary serverAn admin settles disputes in chat
EverdawnA dispute goes to a parliament of seven players, elected on a standing ballot for a seven-day term
An ordinary serverDonations buy swords, armour and an edge in a fight
EverdawnThe pass buys entry only. No loot boxes, no items for money, no advantage in combat
An ordinary serverAn economy of emeralds from village traders
EverdawnCoin enters the world only through mining, escrow on every trade, progressive tax on land
An ordinary serverWaystones and /tp turn roads into decoration
EverdawnThere are no teleports — which is exactly what makes roads, caravans and tolls mean something
An ordinary serverSeasonal map wipes every couple of months
EverdawnOne world, one archive. Records are erased only when a bench has found somebody not guilty

Common questions

Yes, in the literal sense: there is no ruler. Nobody hands out rights, settles arguments in chat or forbids anything. It is not chaos, though — order rests on contracts the players sign themselves, and on a bench everyone elects.

Entry. Your account joins the whitelist while the subscription runs and you get the whole mod, no exceptions. We do not sell items, commands or an edge in combat — that would destroy the point of contracts.

Polis runs server-side, and the Create pack installs in one click through a normal launcher. You need a NeoForge 21.1.248 profile for Minecraft 1.21.1.

Because then the whole project disappears. A border here is a warning and a line, not a wall: you can cross, but everything you do is recorded and can become evidence in court. Players hand down the penalty, not a plugin.

No. One world, one archive. The only time records disappear is an acquittal: if the bench says there was no evidence, it is deleted.

Your account leaves the whitelist, but your city, contracts and records stay exactly where they were. Come back and it is all still there.
