Version 0.13.0

Breaks compatibility
  • The hunt runs only while you are in the world: logging out is not a way to wait it out. Self-defence is the first blow, not any blow.
  • A sentence of the bench is served in the world, not off it: outlawed, red-named, with the reapers told where you are, until the minutes run out or you are caught.
  • Coin can be put on a renegade's head - your own or a city's treasury. It goes to whoever catches them, or back if nobody does.
  • Past the line there is a black market and there are caches. The counter answers only there, and the coin you pay it stops existing.
  • Update your client. An old one will not get in - what travels on the wire has changed.

The client has to be updatedThis release changed the pack, and a client older than it is turned away at the door. Update the pack in the launcher before you next join.

The full list of changes

The hunt holds

  • The hunt window counts only time in the world. Twenty minutes used to pass offline, and a night's sleep cleared twelve hours of the top rung.
  • Self-defence is the first blow of a fight. Any returned blow used to do, so it was enough to strike, take the answer, and kill without a mark.
  • The person killed may collect their own debt off the killer's body. Reapers are told in words when a hunt begins; a second killing is announced to everybody.
  • Every catch is announced to the whole server, and the reapers' page shows how many each seat caught this term and whether it kept catching one person. A reaper collects nothing from their own group or city.

Outlawed

  • The minutes the bench hands down for an unpaid fine are no longer a ban. They are a mark: you stay in the world, red-named, the reapers are told where you are, the clock runs only in the world, and being caught ends it.
  • Exile by vote of the server is still a ban.
  • Owing under a broken contract makes you a renegade in the Dark Zone, as the design promised from the first day.

Coin on a head, a trophy, a manhunt

  • From the reapers' page anybody - or a city through its officers - puts coin on a marked player's head. The register holds it, pays the reaper who catches them, or hands it back if the marks end first. The strip tells a renegade what stands on their head.
  • A catch leaves the renegade's head in the reaper's hands.
  • At the top of the ladder the cell is shown to everybody, not only the reapers. Outlasting a hunt and surviving a manhunt are records now.

Something past the line

  • Past the line the market grows a fifth board: Black market. What it sells is the server's to decide; the coin you pay it stops existing, and nothing is written down.
  • Chests past the line named as caches fill again every season. Metal becomes coin only at the counter in the Safe Zone - carry it home alive.
  • The quest book's chapter The Line says all of it, and Discord has a Wanted board.
